GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A talk and book signing by Col. Anne Wright will occur at 7 p.m. on Jan. 29 in the Arredondo Room of Reitz Union. The event is sponsored by the UF International Center.

Wright has been speaking about peace since the eve of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. At that time, Col. Wright cabled a letter of resignation to Secretary of State Colin Powell stating that without the authorization of the UN Security Council, the invasion and occupation would be a disaster.

Her book is about government officials who believed their oath of office required them to protest against the war in Iraq, even if it meant the end of their careers. Now retired from the U.S. Army, Wright lives in Hawaii and continues to speak about peace.
