UF officials monitoring commencement weekend weather

**Updated May 5, 2019_8:30am**

UF officials are closely monitoring weather conditions for Saturday’s university-wide commencement ceremony and Sunday’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) recognition ceremony, both in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The ceremonies will go on rain or shine, although they will be delayed in the event of a lightning strike within 8 miles of the stadium. With the exception of Sunday’s CLAS ceremony, all individual college graduation ceremonies and Friday’s doctoral commencement will be held indoors as planned, regardless of weather conditions. For information on individual college recognition ceremonies, go to https://commencement.ufl.edu/

Currently, the weather forecast for is as follows:

Sunday

Confidence is now high that showers and thunderstorms will quickly develop in our radius sometime between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. Heavy rain and gusty winds are also possible with any thunderstorm that approaches campus. Temperatures will be warming to near 80.

Please dress appropriately for the expected weather conditions and be prepared to bring a raincoat or poncho as umbrellas and blankets are not permitted in the stadium. In addition, only clear bags are allowed in the stadium.
