UF, FDOT join to promote pedestrian and traffic safety on Aug. 31
The University of Florida and the Florida Department of Transportation are partnering as the fall semester begins to promote pedestrian, scooter and bicycle safety and encourage safe behaviors among the campus community.
On Monday, Aug. 31, representatives from UF, FDOT and the University of Florida Police Department will be at the Newell Gateway at the intersection of Newell Drive and West University Avenue from 10 a.m. to noon to promote traffic safety.
UFPD will give away helmets, lights, and offer scooters and bicycles registration.
Additionally, UF President Stuart Bell and UFPD Chief Bart Knowles will be available to speak with media about the agencies’ ongoing safety efforts.
