University of Florida ranked No. 1 in new AI readiness assessment
The University of Florida ranks No. 1 in the country among largest enrollment public universities in a new independent assessment measuring how well colleges and universities are preparing students for an artificial intelligence-driven future, highlighting UF's investment in integrating AI across teaching, research and student experiences.
The first of its kind comparison, released by Los Angeles-based AIREDEX, gave UF an overall AI readiness score of 9.7 out of 10. The University of Central Florida also made the top-10 list, coming in at No. 8.
The assessment evaluated information across four categories: institutional commitment, curriculum, industry partnerships and research. According to AIREDEX, UF's broad undergraduate AI offerings, campuswide AI infrastructure and partnerships helped distinguish it from other institutions.
In support of the No. 1 ranking, AIREDEX noted UF’s AI Across the Curriculum initiative, which provides every UF student with AI preparation, regardless of their major; HiPerGator, one of the nation's most powerful university-owned supercomputers; UF’s partnership with NVIDIA, widely recognized as the world’s leading AI chip maker; the AI² Center; and NaviGator AI, the university's generative AI platform available to students, faculty and staff.

"This recognition underscores the university's commitment to making AI education accessible across every discipline,” said Joe Glover, interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “By investing in curriculum, computing infrastructure and AI tools for students and faculty, we're ensuring every graduate is prepared to thrive in an AI-enabled workforce."
In compiling the information to create its rankings, AIRDEX drew on publicly available information such as institutional announcements, academic program data, research publications, industry partnerships and policy disclosures.
