UF Homecoming 2025: A century of legacy, a year of celebration

The University of Florida is preparing for one of its most lively traditions of the year: Homecoming and Gator Growl 2025. The 11-day celebration unites students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, and the Gainesville community in an orange and blue display of pride and tradition for the Gator Nation.

“Over my four years with this program, it’s been incredible to watch the commitment and determination of our team as we plan and execute our seven homecoming events,” Homecoming Chair Danielle Collins said. “I’m excited to see these events come together over the next several weeks, and I’m deeply thankful for the students who have dedicated their hearts to making them happen.”

UF Homecoming is student-led and organized through Florida Blue Key (FBK), the oldest and largest student leadership honor society in the nation. The events are designed not only to honor the university’s traditions but also to welcome the Gainesville community into the celebration.

Homecoming Events

The celebration kicks off with Chomp the 5K for Charity, supporting the Child Advocacy Center. This event is scheduled for Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in Depot Park. Registration for the Chomp for Charity 5K is available on gatorgrowl.org.

Next, organizers are planning the Leadership Pageant on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the University Auditorium, where UF’s top students will compete for the titles of Homecoming King and Queen. Tickets for the pageant can be purchased on the FBK website. The celebration continues with Soulfest on Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom, UF’s annual multicultural talent show that highlights student creativity and school spirit through music, dance and performance.

On Oct. 17, the festivities continue at the annual Homecoming festival from 9 a.m. to noon at UF’s Plaza of the Americas. The festival features local businesses and student-run organizations, providing a family-friendly environment that brings together Gainesville residents and UF’s campus community.

For those seeking more activity after the festival, Gator Gallop, a two-mile fun run across campus, is sure to boost Gator morale whether participants choose to run or walk. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Plaza, with the race starting at 10:30 a.m.

The streets of Gainesville come alive with the Homecoming Parade at noon, featuring floats, performances, and the spirited energy of the Gator Nation, starting at University Avenue and 13th Street.

“Homecoming has always been about more than just students. It’s about celebrating as one Gator family,” Collins said. “We are excited to extend a special invitation to faculty, staff, and their families to join us in the celebrations this year. Whether it’s running in the Gallop, watching the parade, or enjoying the festival, there’s something for everyone to experience the pride and tradition of the University of Florida.”

Gator Growl 2025

The week culminates with the 102nd Gator Growl, the nation’s largest student-run pep rally, and the Homecoming football game on Florida Field. Doors of the O’Connell Center will open at 6 p.m., Oct. 17, with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. This year’s Growl features renowned DJ and producer Steve Aoki, promising an unforgettable show. The Gators football team will compete against Mississippi State on Oct. 18 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Kickoff time is to be announced.

From school spirit to service, from talent showcases to high-energy concerts, Homecoming and Gator Growl 2025 celebrate everything it means to be a Florida Gator.
