UF Office of Public Policy Events to hold discussion about the value of college degrees

The University of Florida is hosting a free panel discussion titled “The Value of a College Degree – Is It Worth It?” at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17 in the Career Connections Center: Connections Room G501.

The event will be hosted by the UF Office of Public Policy Events and is sponsored by the Division of Enrollment Management, Career Connections Center and the Department of Economics.

In an era of student debt concerns and a rapidly evolving job market, the value of a college degree is a topic of heated debate. This panel discussion brings together experts from higher education and workforce development to explore whether a college degree remains a critical pathway to success.

Panelists will discuss the evolving role of higher education in career design, the impact of a degree on career opportunities and earnings, and the expectations students have about higher education outcomes. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the changing educational landscape, the skills employers value most and strategies for maximizing the return on investment in education.

The panel will be moderated by Garrett Schreiber, chair of ACCENT Speakers Bureau. The panelists include Mary Parker, vice president and chief enrollment strategist; Ja’Net Glover, associate vice president for career and integrative partnerships; and Thomas Knight, chair of the Department of Economics.

Refreshments will immediately follow the event. Faculty, students, staff and community members are encouraged to attend. The event will be recorded and posted online.
