U.S. News & World Report recognizes UF graduate programs in 2025 rankings

U.S. News & World Report recognized several University of Florida graduate programs as among the best in the country in its 2025 rankings. A total of 21 UF programs moved up in the rankings released today.

The College of Education made one of the most significant gains, rising to No. 6 from No. 16, placing it firmly in the top 10 overall for graduate education programs nationwide. UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine also moved up from No. 7 to No. 5.

Across disciplines, multiple UF graduate programs were ranked in the top 10 in their fields:

  • Student Counseling and Personnel Services – No. 1
  • Tax Law – No. 2
  • Special Education – No. 4
  • Veterinary Medicine – No. 5
  • Biological/Agricultural Engineering – No. 5
  • Occupational Therapy – No. 9
  • Physical Therapy – No. 10

Additional UF graduate programs were ranked in the top 20 nationally, including:

  • Accounting – No. 13
  • Information Systems – No. 16
  • Real Estate – No. 15
  • Elementary Teacher Education – No. 14
  • Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering – No. 19
  • Nuclear Engineering – No. 12
  • Contracts/Commercial Law – No. 19
  • Dispute Resolution – No. 14

“These rankings reflect the unwavering commitment and collaborative spirit of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Joe Glover, UF’s interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “Their dedication to excellence underpins the University of Florida’s determination to lead in graduate and professional education.”

Forty-five UF graduate programs are ranked No. 1 within Florida. In the last academic year, UF awarded 795 research doctorates, 1,097 professional doctorates and 5,556 master’s degrees.  

UF’s success in graduate education builds on its standing as one of the nation’s top public universities. In U.S. News & World Report’s most recent rankings, the University of Florida was ranked No. 7 among all public universities. The university also conducts more than $1 billion in research expenditures, underscoring its commitment to discovery, innovation and impact.  

For the third year in a row, U.S. News & World Report also ranked UF as the top institution in the country for offering an online bachelor’s degree to veterans and active-duty service members.
