Nominations now open for the 2024 Win Phillips Town Gown Relations Award

The Win Phillips Town Gown Relations Award was established in 2022 to celebrate the connections between the University of Florida and the Greater Gainesville area and highlight the achievements of those who collaborate for the mutual benefit of the campus and community.

Nominations are welcome for individuals and organizations who embody the spirit of connection Phillips championed. These are the people and groups who have made remarkable strides in strengthening the bonds between the university and the community for the benefit of all. Whether they represent the university or the community, every effort matters. This is your opportunity to honor those who have built on Phillips’ legacy, fostering lasting connections between UF and the community. 

Categories for nominations (Not all categories may be recognized each year):

  • Government – agency or official
  • Community member
  • Business/Nonprofit
  • UF Faculty/Staff
  • Partnership initiative – between UF and an external entity
  • Innovation Award
  • Legacy Award – for lifetime achievement

The Win Phillips Town Gown Relations Award will be presented at the December UF Board of Trustees meeting. 

Honoring Win Phillips 

For over 35 years, Win Phillips dedicated his life to strengthening the relationships that continue to shape our community today. His visionary leadership in economic development, UF Innovate, and the Innovation District has left an indelible mark on Gainesville. Phillips was known for transforming UF research into real-world success and spurring economic growth in ways that impact us all. His legacy will forever be intertwined with the bridge he built between UF and the wider Gainesville community. This year’s award is the first since his passing.
