Nearly 3,000 graduates plan to celebrate at summer commencement

This summer, nearly 3,000 students are expected to graduate from the University of Florida during the course of three commencement ceremonies held in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10.  

The first ceremony, celebrating 395 doctoral graduates, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

Bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates from the College of the Arts; the College of Design, Construction and Planning; the College of Health and Human Performance; the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering; the College of Journalism and Communications; the College of Medicine; the College of Nursing; the College of Pharmacy; the College of Public Health and Health Professions; and the College of Veterinary Medicine will begin their ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

The commencement ceremony for bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist degrees from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Warrington College of Business will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.

This summer’s graduates hail from six continents, representing 72 countries and 49 states.

The faculty speaker at all three ceremonies will be Paul Lim, Ph.D., professor of humanities in the Hamilton Center and an award-winning historian of early modern England who focuses on religious and intellectual changes around and after the Civil War.
