Dean elected to the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida
The dean of the College of Design, Construction and Planning at the University of Florida, Chimay Anumba, Ph.D., has been elected to the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida.
The academy members elected Anumba for his research contributions to construction engineering and informatics as well as his development of next generation industry leaders. Anumba’s current research involves using artificial intelligence and advanced computing tools to improve design and construction processes.
Founded in 2018, the academy informs Floridians of current and future issues in science, engineering and medicine and how these challenges can be addressed. What the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine is to the Nation, the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida is for the State of Florida with the members living and working in Florida.
Anumba strives to develop the next generation of design, construction and planning professionals in his roles as professor and dean in the college. He was recruited to UF from Pennsylvania State University in 2016 as dean of the College of Design, Construction and Planning.
Anumba will be honored at the academy’s annual meeting on November 5 and 6 in Orlando, Florida.
“I am deeply humbled that someone would nominate me,” he said. “I am most grateful to the academy for this honor.”
