Palm Beach Post: Bob Graham

Former Gov. Bob Graham wrote a June 30 column in the Palm Beach Post about the state’s purchase of 200,000 acres of farmland from U.S. Sugar Corp. to improve water flow for the Everglades. Graham, also a former U.S. senator, founded the Graham Center for Public Service at UF.

Popular Mechanics: Subrata Roy

A patent application for a tiny, plasma-propelled “flying saucer” invented by aerospace engineering professor Subrata Roy was the subject of a June 16 Popular Mechanics story. Dubbed a “winged electromagnetic air vehicle,” or WEAV, the battery-powered prototype was featured in numerous publications and was the result of a News Bureau release.
