Record-setting Gator

Joe Kittinger, a 1950 UF graduate and retired Air Force colonel, speaks on Wednesday at the Reitz Student Union as part of Engineer’s Week 2013. He set the world record for highest altitude parachute jump in 1960 from 102,800 feet. The record was broken in 2012 when Felix Baumgartner parachuted from 127,852 feet. Kittinger was brought here by the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
