Kids with diabetes and other endocrine disorders face more bullying than others, UF study finds

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Children with endocrine disorders such as type 1 diabetes or short stature deal with unique challenges in life, not the least of which is an increased risk of being teased, snubbed or even attacked by school classmates, University of Florida researchers report in an article published online today in The Journal of Pediatrics.

UF study: sexual revolution began with ‘silent generation’ of ‘40s and ‘50s

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The sexual revolution did not start in the free-loving 1960s as is commonly thought, a University of Florida researcher says. It began with the “silent generation” of the 1940s and ‘50s, which as its moniker implies, didn’t talk much about sex.

UF professor: living choices need new terms for aging baby boomers

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Nursing home and assisted living are yesterday’s news - at least as far as baby boomers are concerned. For that still-youth-conscious group, think “DOUERs,” “PERCs” and “elder parks,” says a University of Florida researcher.
