Florida’s consumer confidence hits lowest level in 19 months

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Record-high gas prices and a weak housing market caused consumer confidence in Florida to fall three points in May to 82, its lowest level since October 2005, a new University of Florida study finds.

Study: Freebie offers often a sign that companies about to go under

That’s because there is a significant risk that the so-called “future rewards” will diminish in value when claimed — or the business might not last long enough to hand out the goodies, a new University of Florida study finds.
