Charge pad

Charge pad

University of Florida engineering doctoral student Zhen Ning Low (not seen) demonstrates how a bulb lights up when placed near a charge pad. The pad can charge cell phones, PDAs, laptops and other electronic devices via wireless technology, eliminating the need for cords for each device. The pad is one of several under development nationwide, but the UF engineers say their version is unusually efficient, transmitting an average of about 70 percent of the power flowing from the outlet to the batteries. The research team has filed paperwork for seven patents on the technology in the past three months.
