UF receives $3 million from Florida rancher for eye disease research

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Charlie Mack Overstreet may have trouble seeing straight ahead, but he wants to make sure he sees a bright future for those who share his struggle with macular degeneration. The Central Florida property owner and rancher recently contributed $3 million to efforts being made at the University of Florida in finding a cure for the common eye disease.

UF receives $100,000 to help celebrate, preserve freedom of information

UF dental faculty recognized at home and abroad

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dr. Henry A. Gremillion, an associate professor of orthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry and director of the Parker E. Mahan Facial Pain Center, has received the Florida Dental Association’s Annual Dental Educator Award.

Harn Museum receives grant to improve collection storage

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded the Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida a $140,650 grant for the stabilization of its collection of 6,200 works of art. The award is eligible for $226,685 of federal matching funds, bringing the total amount of the award to $367,335.

Technology, enterprise pay off for campus housing staff, residents

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Department of Housing and Residence Education Custodial Services Department has won a 2006 Prudential Financial — Davis Productivity Award for designing and implementing a unique cost- and labor-saving program to improve the appearance and durability of high maintenance surfaces in campus residence facilities.

UF pediatric geneticist named to prestigious society

UF students win record number of prestigious scholarships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Honors Program announced that UF students have won a strong series of national prestigious scholarships and awards this year. For three of the scholarships, Truman, Goldwater, and National Science Foundation Fellowships, UF had the most winners of these awards in campus history.
