Steering Council set to guide University of Florida campaign

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida’s Campaign Steering Council has been named to prepare for a major fundraising campaign that will help the university become one of the nation’s premier institutions of higher learning, President Bernie Machen announced.

Florida Museum scientist elected to National Academy of Sciences

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Museum of Natural History Curator Emeritus Elizabeth S. Wing was among 72 new members elected Tuesday to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

Machen appoints curator and archivist as official UF historian

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida archivist Carl Van Ness has been named the university’s official historian, UF President Bernie Machen announced today. Van Ness succeeds Samuel Proctor, who was the first person named to the position when it was created in the 1950s and held it until he died in 2005.

UF cardiologist elected to prestigious medical groups

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dr. Jamie B. Conti, a cardiac electrophysiologist and an associate professor of medicine, has been elected to the Association of University Cardiologists, an organization of 125 of the nation’s top cardiologists.
