UF School of Theatre and Dance presents ‘The Grapes of Wrath’

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The University of Florida College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and Dance will present Frank Galati’s stage adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath”, from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6 on the Constans Stage in the UF Nadine McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion.

Knight Foundation funds high-tech civics initiatives at UF’s Bob Graham Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida has one of the weakest civic cultures in the nation, ranking 46th among the 50 states, according to the National Conference on Citizenship. The Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida is dedicated to improving the state’s civic health by training a new and more effective generation of public and civic leaders.

$1 million endowment will boost teaching of children with special needs

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A mother’s memory of her late daughter, whose passion was teaching children with special needs, will live on and support students seeking advanced degrees in special education at the University of Florida, thanks to provisions made in her estate.

Haiti documentary made by two UF students to be screened Jan. 11

Retiring Sea Grant agent receives national award

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Don Sweat, the recently retired Florida Sea Grant marine extension agent for a multi-county region on the state’s west coast, has been awarded the national William Q. Wick Visionary Career Leadership Award in recognition of his career achievements in Sea Grant Extension.
