Two UF students win Truman Scholarships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 28, 2006) — The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation has selected two University of Florida juniors as winners of its national scholarship for students preparing for leadership in public service: Ashley Bittner and Bruce Haupt. The award is a scholarship of up to $30,000 for graduate school in a public service field.

University of Florida hosts national speech and debate tournament

Texas A&M dept. head named UF’s Health and Human Performance dean

Arts program pairs medical students with people 65 and older

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Center for the Arts & Healthcare Research & Education (CAHRE) at the University of Florida, in collaboration with UF’s College of Medicine and the Harn Museum of Art, has been invited to participate in Vital Visionaries, a national program designed to improve future doctors’ attitudes toward people over 65 and to awaken in both groups awareness of their creative possibilities.

Three UF students earn Goldwater Scholarships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Goldwater Foundation has announced that three University of Florida students have been selected for Goldwater Scholarships: Donald Burnette, Lauren Culver and Jeffrey Wong. UF junior Taylor Gilliland was recognized by the Goldwater Foundation with an honorable mention. This is the largest number of University of Florida students who have been recognized by the Goldwater Foundation.
