UF begins podcasting university news, information

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In an effort to reach the rapidly growing number of people using MP3 players such as Apple Computer’s popular iPod to access news and information, the University of Florida has begun offering podcasts on the university’s news Web site.

UF Engineering receives $1 million-plus gift from Harris Corp.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In a major show of support for the University of Florida’s College of Engineering, the Harris Corp., an international communications equipment company headquartered in Melbourne, Fla., announced a pledge Friday of $1,025,000 to the college. The gift will be used to endow multiple professorships in UF’s engineering program.

Improv star will take the stage at 80th Gator Growl

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Improvisation and impersonation will meet on stage when Wayne Brady appears at the 80th Annual University of Florida Gator Growl “Revenge of the Swamp” on Friday, Oct. 7, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Fla. Museum to host ‘in search of giant squid’ temporary exhibit

Samuel Proctor, UF’s historian, dies at 86 after long illness

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Samuel Proctor, a University of Florida professor emeritus of history and the university’s historian, died today at his home after a long illness. He was 86.
