Harn receives Warhol prints

The Harn Museum of Art recently received a grant of 150 original Polaroid photographs and gelatin silver prints from one of the nation’s most prestigious arts foundations, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

Bergstrom Center names Alumnus of the Year

Davenport named department chairman

Paul Davenport, a professor in the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, recently was named acting chairman of the college’s department of physiological sciences.

Professors receive Olympic recognition

Professors James Zhang and Dan Connaughton from the department of Tourism Recreation and Sport Management at the College of Health and Human Performance recently received Outstanding Service Awards from the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Committee. The awards were given for participation as Olympic volunteers at the 2008 Olympic Games.

African beadwork exhibition now open at the Harn

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — For centuries, African beadwork has “spoken” in a visually coded language to convey thoughts about personal relationships, family ties, wealth, religious beliefs, and social and political standing. “Between the Beads: Reading African Beadwork” is an exploration of this practice.
