Astronomy Department shines light on East Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — As part of an ongoing effort to reach out to the community, the University of Florida Department of Astronomy is hosting “Stars Shine on East Gainesville,” a celebration of art, science and culture, at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Joseph A. Williams Elementary School. The event is free and open to the public.

Gift creates park and helps establish $2 million UF endowment

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A creative approach to protecting environmentally sensitive land in north central Florida will also help establish a $2 million endowment for the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business and the Florida Museum of Natural History.

UF Community Campaign seeks to raise $1.2 million this year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In the past 13 years the faculty and staff at University of Florida have given nearly $10 million to charities through the UF Community Campaign. Sept. 26 marks the launch of the program’s 14th year at UF with a goal of $1.2 million.

Florida Museum seeks volunteers for Newberry fossil dig

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Museum of Natural History Vertebrate Paleontology Division is looking for volunteers this fall to assist with fossil collecting at a major site discovered in 2005 at a limestone quarry northeast of Newberry.
