GAINESVILLE, Fla. — For two decades, the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR) has laid the cutting-edge tools of genetics and molecular biology at the fingertips of University of Florida researchers. This summer, it advances that mission as ICBR expands into new state-of-the-art facilities under the guidance of a new director. That is, just as soon as the new director gets back from Mars — or, at least as close to Mars as you can find on Earth.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — This fall, researchers at University of Florida will begin investigating high-risk drinking behavior among first-year college students and health marketing prevention methods that influence this behavior, thanks to a $283,745-grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education.

“Mysteries of the Heart,” artwork by Tanya Beatty, a University of Florida alumna, will be on display in the Reitz Student Union Gallery from July 31 to Aug. 11.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dr. Henry A. Gremillion, an associate professor of orthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry and director of the Parker E. Mahan Facial Pain Center, has received the Florida Dental Association’s Annual Dental Educator Award.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will return home for the first time in 13 years when the band performs at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the O’Connell Center.
