New WUFT/TV show highlights arts, culture in North Florida

Florida Butterfly Festival photo contest entries due Sept. 15

UF junior chosen as one of 20 Beinecke Scholarship winners nationwide

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Beinecke Foundation has selected Jenna Battillo, a junior majoring in anthropology and classical studies and minoring in geological sciences at the University of Florida, as one of 20 national winners of the prestigious Beinecke Scholarship.

Little Shop of Horrors performance at Phillips Center canceled

Award-winning nature writer to discuss his new book at UF

Bill Belleville, award-winning nature writer and winner of an Emmy for producing “Wekiva: Legacy or Loss?,” will discuss his new book “Losing It All to Sprawl: How Progress Ate My Cracker Landscape” at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Special Collections Research Room at Smathers Library.

UF’s Rinker School receives $100,000 gift

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The UF South Florida BCN Alumni Club presented a $100,000 check to the M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Building Construction at the school’s 70th Anniversary Banquet and Fundraiser May 9. The gift will help fund the school’s 70th Anniversary Endowed Faculty Support Fund to provide for new faculty members.

‘Quilting Natural Florida’ exhibit to open at Florida Museum June 10

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Museum of Natural History and the Quilters of Alachua County Day Guild will co-host “Quilting Natural Florida” June 10 to Sept. 4 at the Florida Museum. The exhibition features contemporary quilts with an emphasis on the plants, animals and environments of natural Florida.

University of Florida earns national recognition in distance education
