Steering Council set to guide University of Florida campaign

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida’s Campaign Steering Council has been named to prepare for a major fundraising campaign that will help the university become one of the nation’s premier institutions of higher learning, President Bernie Machen announced.

Florida Museum scientist elected to National Academy of Sciences

National grant supports architecture student scholarships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The American Institute of Architects has awarded the AIA Gainesville chapter a matching grant of $2,500 to support emerging leaders in the profession through a joint AIA scholarship opportunity. The grant will support AIA Gainesville’s “North Florida Chapter – AIA Endowed Scholarship” established to provide scholarships to University of Florida architecture graduate students who demonstrate superior academic achievement.

Organization gives $1 million for pediatric cancer research at UF

President Machen honors 30 students for community service

Law pioneers to be honored by Levin College of Law

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Clara Gehan, the first woman to graduate from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law and go on to practice law and pave the way for other women in the field, also will be the first of her gender inducted into the school’s Heritage of Leadership Recognition Society, which honors the school’s most distinguished alumni.

UF students present designs for new child development and research center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Interior design students at the University of Florida’s College of Design, Construction and Planning will present their completed designs for Baby Gator Child Development and Research Center to the center’s board from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in Norman Hall main corridor and Room 158 on the UF campus. The meeting is open to the public and comments from parents, faculty and staff are encouraged.
