Gator Growl Talent Night seeks performers to audition

GAINESVILLE – Auditions for Gator Growl Talent Night will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 the Reitz Student Union Rooms 361-362. Talent Night will be held Sept. 20 at The Venue (formerly Graffiti Beach) in downtown Gainesville.

Neuromuscular symposium set for Sept. 22

$875,000 grant may help astronomers see new planets

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Thanks to an $875,000 grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation, University of Florida astronomy researchers will develop an instrument that has the capability of observing stars at 10 times the depth of current surveys, to detect thousands of new planets.

UF/IFAS faculty appointed to new Florida Oceans and Coastal Council

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — James Cato and Karl Havens, professors at the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, have been appointed to the new Florida Oceans and Coastal Council, established by the 2005 Florida Legislature to help protect and conserve the state’s ocean and coastal resources while recognizing their economic benefits.

Provost: UF prepares for dramatic increase in freshman admissions
