Gator student government grabs awards at SEC event

At the Southeastern Conference’s inaugural Outstanding Student Government Awards ceremony held last weekend, the University of Florida won the top award in all three of the categories it was nominated.

UF was honored with the the SEC Outstanding Student Government Award for Outstanding Legislation; Student Government of the Year for all of the initiatives and programs launched by Student Government in 2014-2015; and Student Government Leader of the Year, former Student Body President Cory Yeffet.

The award winners were announced at the SEC Student Government Exchange held at the University of Alabama. Awards were presented in a total of seven categories.

Current Student Body President Joselin Padron-Rasines, who attended the event in Tuscaloosa, described the University of Florida’s success in the competition as “truly exciting for our student government!”
