Sundance-winning film on the power of music

The University of Florida Health Shands Arts in Medicine program and the UF Center for the Arts in Medicine will hold a screening of the film “Alive Inside” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, at the Hippodrome State Theatre, 25 SE 2nd Place.

Winner of the Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, “Alive Inside” highlights the therapeutic power of music, examining its profound effects on people suffering from memory loss. A discussion will follow the screening.

The UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine program is known as an international leader in transforming health care environments through the arts via activities, workshops and performances at three hospitals and in UF Health outpatient settings. Staff members also share art, music, dance and poetry with other community organizations.

 As part of the UF College of the Arts, the program focuses on education, research and outreach related to the practice of arts in medicine.
