P.K. Yonge Performing Arts to present Broadway favorite ‘West Side Story’

Sharks and Jets are coming to Gainesville!

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School at the University of Florida College of Education will present five performances of the classic musical “West Side Story” from Thursday, April 9 to Sunday, April 12.

Debuting on Broadway nearly 60 years ago, the musical adaption of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is set in a tough west-Manhattan neighborhood. With many all-time audience favorites, including "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere," “West Side Story” is widely regarded as one of the greatest examples of American musical theater.

Established in 1934, P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School is a public school district affiliated with the University of Florida and located on its campus. The school serves approximately 1,150 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
