January 30, 2015

Author and UF professor Ted Spiker will give a talk about his book “Down Size: Twelve Truths for Turning Pants-Splitting Frustration into Pants-Fitting Success” on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in Smathers Library (East), room 100.

In his talk, Spiker will share his vulnerable, hilarious and insightful experiences taking on the scale – and himself – head on. Spiker will also talk about how he teaches, writes, runs and blogs while serving as the interim chair of the UF Journalism department.

Spiker heads the department’s magazine sequence and teaches classes on magazine and feature writing. In addition to teaching, Spiker is a freelance writer specializing in health and fitness.

He has also co-authored several books, including the best-selling “YOU: The Owner’s Manual” series with Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen. Before he arrived at UF, Spiker held editor positions at several magazines, including Men’s Health.
