UF faculty to share architecture, historic preservation and sustainability research with students

The University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning will host its annual research symposium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in multiple areas throughout the Architecture Building.

Titled “Inquire Create Inform,” the symposium is an opportunity for DCP faculty to share their research with students and for faculty to learn about each other’s recent work in architecture, construction management, historic preservation, interior design, landscape architecture, sustainability and urban and regional planning and how it impacts the professions.

 The event will launch at 5 p.m. Wednesday with a reception in the Gallery followed by a keynote presentation from Kim Tanzer, professor of architecture at the University of Virginia and a former UF faculty senate chair.

 Thursday’s opening session will feature UF architecture professor Bradley Walters, whose current research is centered on high-performance, zero-energy buildings within the context of social, artistic and cultural production.

 More than 40 faculty presentations will follow. The event will conclude with a graduate student poster session and reception at 5 p.m.
