Farewell Reception for President Bernie Machen set for Dec. 18

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to a reception and celebration of University of Florida President Bernie Machen, who will step down at the end of the month after 11 years as president.

The reception is set for 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 18 in the President’s Ballroom at Emerson Alumni Hall, 1938 W. University Ave.  Refreshments will be served.

UF Provost Joe Glover will speak during a short program that will begin at 3:30 p.m. Guest books will be available for attendees to share their thoughts with Machen and his wife, First Lady Chris Machen.

Machen, UF’s 11^th president, began his presidency Jan. 5, 2004.
