Training Gators to save each other

November 12, 2014

The knowledge and ability to perform CPR within a matter of minutes of a sudden cardiac arrest saves lives. So, GatorSavers & the UF Department of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) want to make sure that more Gators than ever are up to the task. They will host a StaffSaver event Friday, Nov. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Graham Hall Recreation Center.

Sponsored by HeartSafe City Foundation and GatorCPR, the event will provide Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED (automated external defibrillator) certification training for UF faculty and staff members.

With 50,000 and more than 9,000 faculty and staff members, the UF campus is its own community and strives to care of its “citizens.” CPR training is a positive move in that direction.

Every year, GatorSavers also holds a mass training event on campus during the spring semester to raise awareness and provide training to UF students.

The registration cost per participant at the November event is $15 for Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED training and certification.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be applied toward the purchase of an AED, to be placed in the local community through a grant program.
