WUFT-FM anniversary poster features the work of photographer Mac Stone

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- Public radio station WUFT-FM Florida’s 89.1 will honor its 33rd anniversary with a limited edition poster featuring the image “Arise” by photographer Mac Stone. The 24-by-30-inch vertical poster will be available during the WUFT-FM fall membership campaign through Oct. 31.
Stone is a conservation photographer and Gainesville native. He grew up exploring the springs, swamps and hammocks of North Central Florida and developed a passion for photography at a young age. Stone has traveled to remote and imperiled areas around the globe to capture images and teach photography to underprivileged youth.
Currently he has focused his work on America's swamps in an attempt to change public opinion toward wetlands. He has spent five years living and working in the Everglades watershed, and recently completed a 304-page full color book about the heralded River of Grass. Everglades: America's Wetland, published by University Press of Florida, will also be available during the upcoming membership campaign.
The poster will be available during the campaign along with a set of four notecards featuring Florida nature and landscape images. The poster and the cards will be available for a $120 contribution. The poster and the Everglades book will be available for a pledge of $240.
Posters that are pledged for can be picked up at a poster signing reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville. Stone will be on hand to sign and add a personal message and The Great Frame Up will feature special framing prices.
Florida’s 89.1, WUFT-FM and WJUF-FM 90.1 are part of the UF College of Journalism and Communications Division of Multimedia Properties and serve as a training facility for students. The stations cover 16 counties in North Florida and an additional three counties in Florida’s Nature Coast (Citrus, Sumter and Hernando) and feature NPR, PRI and locally originated programming. WUFT-FM began broadcasting on Sept. 27, 1981.
