Florida’s 5 WUFT-TV to provide live coverage of the Homecoming parade

GAINESVILLE, Fla.--- Public television station Florida’s 5, WUFT-TV will present exclusive live television coverage of the 2014 University of Florida Homecoming parade beginning at noon Oct. 17.The parade can also be seen via streaming video at http://www.wuft.org/live

UF telecommunication students will serve as emcees for the two-hour broadcast. Preceding the broadcast at 11:30 a.m., WUFT will air “Home,” a special collection of videos highlighting UF accomplishments and campus events and activities.

UF’s 91st Homecoming parade features the theme “Limitless” and UF President Bernie Machen will serve as the grand marshal. Local and state dignitaries will be recognized as they ride down University Avenue in classic and new convertibles. This year's Homecoming parade, coordinated by Florida Blue Key, will showcase spectacular bands, floats and special units from UF student organizations and community groups.

A rebroadcast of the parade is scheduled for noon Oct. 19 on WUFT (Cox Cable channel 3 in Gainesville).

The UF College of Journalism and Communications Division of Multimedia Properties encompasses public television station Florida’s 5, WUFT-TV/DT (with three digital streams) and digital television station WRUF-TV6; two commercial radio stations, Country 103.7 The Gator and ESPN 850; and  two public radio stations, Florida’s 89.1, WUFT-FM and WJUF-FM 90.1 (both with three HD streams). The stations serve listeners and viewers throughout North Florida and the Nature Coast. The stations also serve as a training facility for students of all disciplines in the college.
