GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Center for Leadership and Service at the University of Florida is partnering with United Way of North Central Florida to provide and promote Volunteer Select as a resource to UF students.

Volunteer Select is an online clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities for the six-county, North Central Florida region.

Students can search for service opportunities by category, recent posts or agencies to view accurate lists of what is available and who to contact. Students can also select to receive an email and information from favorite agencies and categories when new related posts are added.

Local agencies can also register with the site to request volunteers and post information about available positions.

“We are excited to be able to offer Volunteer Select to our students, staff, faculty, and alumni to be a one-stop resource for discovering and connecting with organizations that are working on issues in which they are passionate,” said Josh Funderburke, executive director of the Center for Leadership and Service. “In the past nonprofits registered with us and the United Way, as well as Santa Fe College, which led to lower registrations with each group. This partnership allows us to consolidate that registration process, which means people looking for opportunities will have a wider range of selection that they did in the past.”

Volunteer Select seeks to provide a new way to form connections between individuals and nonprofits in an effort to enhance community involvement and eradicate poverty.
