Flag-raising ceremony scheduled for Aug. 26 at Tigert Hall

WHAT: Flag-raising ceremony

WHERE: Tigert Hall front steps

WHEN: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26

WHO: Speakers will include UF President Bernie Machen; Curtis Reynolds, vice president for business affairs; and World War II Marine Corps veteran of Iwo Jima Bob Gasche of Gainesville.

ADDITIONAL: The university has constructed a flag garden with three new flag poles in front of Tigert Hall. In support of U.S. Flag Code and other applicable laws, the flags to be flown are the U.S. flag, the state of Florida flag and the POW/MIA flag. The flags will be raised by members of the University Police Department, UF ROTC and Alachua County veterans.
