UF given award for excellence in procurement

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The University of Florida has been awarded the prestigious 19th annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award for 2014 from the National Procurement Institute, known as NPI. 

The AEP Award is earned by public and nonprofit organizations that obtain a high application score based on these standardized criteria: innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership.

This program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually. 

The award application was completed using data/business processes provided by purchasing (including PCard), asset management and organizational training and development.

For 2014, there were 198 successful applicants, including 44 counties, 68 cities, 23 higher education agencies, 22 school districts, 33 special districts and eight state agencies.

In addition to NPI, the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award is sponsored by the California Association of Public Procurement Officials, Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials, the Institute for Supply Management, NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, the National Association of State Procurement Officials, the National Association of Educational Procurement, the Texas Public Purchasing Association and The Canadian Public Procurement Council/Conseil canadien des marchés publics.
