GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The following events are scheduled in the near future at or near the University of Florida:

Learn more about biotechnology

UF/IFAS will present Biotechnology Literacy Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 18 at Emerson Alumni Hall. The free event will include experts who will talk about genetic modification technology and its safety, effectiveness and role in the world’s food supply.

Innovation Square celebration

The City of Gainesville’s Community Redevelopment Agency is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Innovation Square roadways and park at 4:30 p.m. June 13 at 749 SW 2nd Ave. The celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with food, entertainment and children’s events.
