Software company to move offices to Innovation Square

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- Seventh Compass, a locally founded software development company, is moving its main office space to Trimark Properties’ 417 Building at Innovation Square. The company hopes to promote the ongoing community of collaboration at Innovation Square at the University of Florida by mentoring and partnering with neighboring companies.

Seventh Compass recently signed a lease for the property known as the 417 Office Building at 417 SW 8^th St. The building formerly housed the Division of Blind Services and has been vacant since 2008. In February, Trimark started renovations on the building to create two new spaces known as 424 and 417 at Innovation Square. The five Seventh Compass employees who work in a 600-square-foot space in the Seagle building in downtown Gainesville will move to the newly renovated 1,080-square-foot office this month.

Seventh Compass was founded in 2003 by Matthew Donovan. The company’s name comes from its policy of following the seven compasses of honesty, innovation, creativity, learning, attention, simplicity and integrity. These values have led the company to more than 10 years of success helping clients like the University of Florida and Group Publishing of Colorado. In addition to providing premium services and consulting to clients, Seventh Compass has also produced their own products for direct to market consumption, including Quibble, an application that allows customers to provide feedback to businesses instantaneously.

Seventh Compass cited multiple reasons for their move to Innovation Square. They were looking for cool new office space that would help attract and retain young talented individuals and loved the collaborative community that is growing in Innovation Square. “Seventh Compass started here in Gainesville, and it’s making a move to nearly double its size as it competes on a national level in the tech industry. I mentor entrepreneurial students at UF, and I like to point to examples like Seventh Compass to remind students that they can stay in Gainesville after graduation and have a great career with an industry leader. That’s one of the things that makes Gainesville great,” said City Commissioner Todd Chase.

Seventh Compass joins companies that include the Loss Prevention Research Council, Curtco Media, Zeeko Technologies, Parisleaf and others adding to the growth of Innovation Square. The site's core is a 10-acre site owned by the University of Florida Development Corporation. UFDC along with its business partners plans to build more than 5 million square feet of office, research and laboratory space. Trimark Properties is in the process of renovating and developing multiple buildings around the Innovation Square between downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida, including Innovation Squares first cowork building called Nimbus.
