GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The following events are scheduled in the near future at or near the University of Florida:

Community Alcohol Coalition meets May 6

The Community Alcohol Coalition will meet from 10 a.m. to noon May 6 in Emerson Alumni Hall, Warrington Room A&B. The coalition is composed of representatives from the University of Florida, Santa Fe College and local law enforcement agencies who seek ways to reduce excessive and underage drinking in the community. Reports will be given by Maureen Miller of UF Gatorwell Health Promotion Services, Gainesville Police Lt. Brian Helmerson and Joan Scully of UF Counseling & Wellness Center.

Caribbean marine science focus of seminar

Maickel Armenteros, associate director of the University of Havana Center for Marine Research, will present a seminar focused on emerging issues in marine science in the Caribbean at 1 p.m. May 7 in McCarty Hall, Room 1086. Presidential search subcommittee on qualifications to meet May 9

College of Medicine commencement
