Commencement ceremonies

Nine commencement ceremonies are scheduled May 2-5 on the University of Florida campus.

Alcohol coalition schedules meeting

The Community Alcohol Coalition will meet from 10 a.m. to noon May 6 in Emerson Alumni Hall, Warrington Room A&B. The coalition is composed of representatives from the University of Florida, Santa Fe College and local law enforcement agencies who seek ways to reduce excessive and underage drinking in the community. An agenda will be available later.

Museum hosts program for Girl Scouts

The Florida Museum of Natural History will host a “Girl Scouts Explore: Botany” program May 9. The program from 6 to 9 p.m. allows Brownie or Junior Girl Scouts to explore and investigate plants from around the world, and earn a museum patch with an accompanying “Botany” bar especially designed for the event.

Plant sale, agricultural program slated May 17

The 2014 Master Gardener Plant Sale & Ag Fest will be held May 17 at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office, 2800 NE 39th Ave. The sale starts at 8 a.m. and presentations on such topics as backyard chickens and heirloom vegetables will start at 9 a.m. Both end at noon. The sale raises funds for the Alachua County Master Gardener Volunteer Program.
