GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The following events are scheduled in the near future at or near the University of Florida:
Learning about health options
Navigators will be available at 2 p.m. March 18 at the College of Public Health and Health Professions, 1225 Center Drive, to help consumers learn more about the Affordable Care Act and to enroll before the March 31 deadline. Jeff Feller, CEO for WellFlorida, and Allyson G. Hall, director of UF’s Center for Medicaid and the Uninsured, will participate.

BuzzFeed founder to speak here
Jonah Peretti, founder and CEO of BuzzFeed and co-founder of The Huffington Post, will speak at 8 p.m. March 20 in the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Creator of the “share” button, Peretti is known for his innovative integration of social media and current events. Peretti will be discussing journalism, the evolving media landscape and his career. Doors open at 7 p.m., and admission is free and open to the public.

Federal judge reflects on career
Emmett R. Cox, senior circuit judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, will present a lecture titled “Thirty Two Years on the Federal Bench: Some Things I Have Learned” at 10:30 a.m. March 21 in the Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Classroom, HOL 180. The event is free and open to the public.

UF Holi Festival of Colors coming to Flavet Field
The second annual UF Holi Festival of Colors will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22 at Flavet Field. Sponsored by several student organizations, the festival commemorates various events in Hindu mythology. A central ritual is throwing and applying of colored water and powders on friends and family. Lecture examines climate change, property
Daniel A. Farber, law professor at University of California Berkeley, will speak at 11 a.m. March 24 in the Martin H. Levin Advocacy Center courtroom. He will present a lecture on “Property Rights and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event is free and open to the public. He is co-director of Berkeley’s Center for Law and Energy and the Environment.

Lecture focuses on sacred spaces
The Gainesville Society of the Archaeological Institute of America will host Christina Conlee, associate professor at the University of California Santa Barbara, at 6:30 p.m. March 26 in the Computer Science Engineering building, Room E119. Her lecture is titled “Sacred Spaces and Human Sacrifice: The Nasca Lines in their Cultural and Religious.” The event is free and open to the public.

Lecture looks at dialogue with racist extremists
Kathleen Blee, a sociology professor and associate dean for graduate studies and research at the University of Pittsburgh, will give a lecture titled “Studying Racist Activists: What Can Be Learned and What Cannot” at 5:30 p.m. March 27 in Ustler Hall atrium. She will discuss women in the Ku Klux Klan and the moral dilemmas that researchers encounter when studying difficult subjects. The event is free.
