Princeton professor to talk about sustainable citizenship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Princeton University professor Melissa Lane will conduct a lecture on “sustainable citizenship” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Reitz Student Union Grand Ballroom.

The common lecture for the class HUM 2305: What is the Good Life? is free and open to the public. Lane studies the history of political thought and philosophy with an emphasis on ancient Greek politics.

Lane is a professor in the department of politics at Princeton. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Harvard and a doctorate in philosophy from Cambridge. She is also the author of “Eco-Republic: What the Ancients Can Teach Us about Ethics, Virtue and Sustainable Living.”
