Bus to Lake Wauburg to resume Saturdays on Jan. 18

January 8, 2014

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Because of demand from University of Florida students, a shuttle bus from the main campus to Lake Wauburg will be offered each Saturday until the end of June, excluding breaks and holidays.

Beginning Jan. 18, students can catch RTS Route 128 every hour from the Reitz Student Union between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The last shuttle will leave Lake Wauburg at 5 p.m.

Students must bring their Gator 1 cards to ride the buses and enter the recreational area.

Regional Transit System spokesman Chip Skinner said the shuttle used to run some time ago, but it was discontinued due to low ridership. The university is able to fund the new route without increasing student transportation fees.

The route is not linked with a GPS like other RTS buses, so the shuttle will not show up on the TransLoc bus route app. However, printed maps or online bus schedules are available.
