Danú performs “Christmas in Ireland” Dec. 17 at the Phillips Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Acclaimed Irish ensemble Danú – twice named best traditional group by the BBC – presents its Celtic music celebration, “Christmas in Ireland: An Nollaig in Éirinn” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Phillips Center for Performing Arts at the University of Florida.

Tickets start at $20, and are $10 for UF students.

Called “a vibrant mix of virtuosity, energy and empathy,” by The Washington Post, Danú’s virtuosi includes players on fiddle, flute, button accordion and percussion, coupled with the unforgettable voice of Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh.

Danú takes its audiences on a musical journey to their native Ireland, offering a moving and memorable concert experience. Winners of numerous awards from the BBC and Irish Music Magazine, the ensemble has toured throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
