Here are winners in Global Culture Photo Competition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida International Center has announced the winners of its 10thAnnual Global Culture Photo Competition.

The 2013 winners are:

Category 1 – study abroad students

1st Place         Food & Family                      Mallory Oxford (Florence, Italy)

2nd Place        The Egg Man in Berlin          Elizabeth Lauren Moore (Berlin, Germany)

3^rd Place          ¿Puede oírme ahora?          Bryan Tarbox (Santa Marta, Colombia)

Category 2 – international students

1st Place         Gettysburg                             Kan Li (Gettysburg, Pa.)

2nd Place        The City Never Sleeps          Chloe Hawkings (New York City)

3rd Place         Holi                                        Kan Li (Gainesville)

Category 3 – faculty, staff and alumni

1st Place         Madam In Her Workspace     Quynh-Le Nguyen (Inle Lake, Myanmar)

2nd Place        Vibrant Prayer                       Amanda Blanco (Istanbul, Turkey)

3rd Place         How Do You Get Your Honey? Christopher A. Johns (Bataan, Philippines)

An opening reception will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 as part of International Education Week 2013. The winning photographers will be present to share the story behind their photos. The exhibit will be held at UF Grinter Gallery Nov.  6-22. The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.
