UF Executive Education offers fall slate of leadership programs

August 21, 2013

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Registration is now open for the fall leadership development programs offered by University of Florida Executive Education.

The programs are designed to position Florida’s leaders for success, with a focus on essential skills at every level. Programs are offered in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando.

“We’re excited about our program offerings this year,” said director Chris Cupoli. “Florida’s business leaders understand that investing in their people is critical to the success of their organizations. We’ve spent the last two years refining our modules to meet the needs of some of the country’s largest companies and now we have applied what we learned to our new suite of public programs curricula for Leadership Essentials and Leading for the Future — combining real-world-tested solutions, cutting-edge research and future-focused vision — to help organizations maximize their talent.”

Leadership Essentials provides the groundwork for leadership growth and development. Through a variety of integrated modules, participants learn to fully transition from individual contributors to leaders. After successfully completing the Leadership Essentials Certificate Program, attendees will have gained specific skills for leading teams and ensuring performance; understand the personal impacts of leadership transitions; and be able to adjust effectively from an individual contributor to a leader.

The program provides the benefit of learning and interacting with The Leading Edge Theatre, the University of Florida’s business theatre company, which presents a session on workplace culture using an innovative and engaging technique that draws on improvisational acting techniques and the talents of the audience. This session will demonstrate the impact of workplace behaviors and culture on recruiting and retaining the best talent.

Leading for the Future is designed to help high-potential leaders learn to think strategically and to lead effectively, as well as to learn to take on new challenges and responsibilities such as financial management, strategy execution and aligning talent to strategy and cross-functional projects. Outcomes for this program include team and relationship building skills; change management; strategic thinking and vision; and social responsibility awareness.

The curriculum is specifically designed to help high-potential leaders learn to think strategically and to lead, operationalizing strategy throughout the organization. Participants may elect to enroll in the entire six session certificate program or pick and choose sessions that align to their professional development needs.  To learn how this program can transform individual and organizational leadership skills, visit http://ufexec.ufl.edu/leading-for-the-future for more information.
