Football game, Labor Day to affect bus service this weekend

GAINESVILLE, Fla — RTS bus service from Friday through Monday will be affected by the University of Florida’s first home football game and the Labor Day holiday.

Here are the changes:

Friday:  Routes 24 and 25 will be detoured in the downtown Gainesville area due to a United Way event between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.  Route 24 will use SE 3rd Street to Depot Avenue to Waldo Road.  Route 25 from the UF campus will turn left from SW 2nd Avenue onto Main Street, then right onto University Avenue to Waldo Road.  Route 25 from the airport will take University Avenue to SE 3rd Street to the Rosa Parks Downtown Station then take SE 4th Avenue to Main Street to SW 2nd Avenue.

Saturday:   Morning and afternoon delays are to be expected due to increased traffic for the game versus Toledo.  Starting three hours prior to kick-off at 12:21 p.m., Gator Aider service is available from  five park-n-ride locations:  Town of Tioga, Haile Village Center, Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, the Oaks Mall and the Downtown Parking Garage.  Later Gator will run its normal service.

Monday:   There will be no bus service in observance of the Labor Day holiday.  Paratransit will be available for dialysis appointments only.

Normal fall service will resume on Tuesday.
