GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The National Academic Advising Association has selected the University of Florida’s Preview Orientation Advising as an Outstanding Institutional Advising Program Award winner.

The awards annually recognize programs that document innovative and/or exemplary practices resulting in improvement of academic advising service. The award will be presented this fall during the association’s conference in Salt Lake City.

“We’re delighted to have earned this recognition, as we believe Preview does an outstanding job preparing UF students for academic success,” said Joseph Spillane, director of UF’s Academic Advising Center. “Our incoming freshmen are given the tools they need to make efficient progress toward a degree, helping UF achieve remarkable student retention and graduation rates. Preview is a genuinely collaborative effort that brings together offices from across campus to provide new Gators the best possible introduction to our campus.”

The association’s membership has grown to more than 10,000 faculty, professional advisers, administrators, counselors and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal and vocational needs of students.
